Minnesota Wins Romanshorn Cup!- Romanshorn Newspaper (Translation)

With an outstanding 6-0 record the Minnesota Mission beat the HC Turgau Novizi Elite in final game to capture the second edition of the International Romanshorn U16 Tournament.in Switzerland. Minnesota Mission celebrated winning every period (each period counted as a game) and in allowing only one goal, the Minnesota Team clearly deserved the Championship Trophy.

With a strong performance in the final, the HC Thurgau Novizi Elite Team demonstrated a competitive attitude and solid skills to build on in the future. Lead by Top Scorer Marshall Everson, the Minnesota Team combined great defensive play with a potent offense in winning the tournament.

The two teams exchanged jerseys after the game and had their photographs taken together illustrating great spirit and sportsmanship. The third place trophy was awarded to the Bern Selects Team of Germany. Tournament Organizer and Head Coach of the HC Thurgau Team Christian Rugg, thanked all the teams and praised the Minnesota Mission Team and parents for their contribution to an extremely exciting atmosphere and also extended an invitation to come back again next year!

Mit einem klaren 6:0-Sieg gegen die Elite-Novizen des HC Thurgau sichert sich das Team von Minnesota Mission den Turniersieg am dies- jährigen Int. U-16-Turnier in Romanshorn.

Jubelnde Minnesota Über die zwei Turniertage gesehen hat mit dem Team aus Minneapolis (USA) bestimmt das richtige Team gewonnen und den Pokal nach Übersee "entführt".

Trotz der eindeutigen Niederlage haben auch die Elite-Novizen des HC Thurgau eine tolle Turnierleistung gezeigt, auf welcher aufgebaut werden kann. Den 3. Turnierrang belegten die Bayern Selects. Die jungen Deutschen zeigten ebenfalls eine tolle Leistung und scheiterten in einem auf gutem Niveau stehenden Spiel gegen den HC Thurgau nur knapp am Finaleinzug.

Minnesota und HC Thurgau Der Turnierorganisator, die Hockey Thurgau AG bedankt sich bei allen Beteiligten für ihr Mitwirken. Insbesondere bedanken wir uns für die tolle Mitarbeit der jungen Speaker- und Punktrichter-Crew. Ebenso gilt unser Dank den Schiedsrichtern für die Leitung der diversen Spiele. Unser Dank gilt auch dem EZO Eissportzentrum Oberthurgau für die logistische Unterstützung - allen voran der Küchenmannschaft um Dirk Wallenstein.

Lust but not least geht unser Dank nochmals an die Gemeinde Romanshorn, welche das Turnier-Patronat des diesjährigen Internationalen U-16-Turnieres übernommen hat.

Three American Hockey Teams from Shattuck St, Mary's of Minnesota 'landed' on the shores of Lake Como over Christmas vacation. 'Shattuck', the most prestigious youth hockey organization in the U.S.A., came to Lake Como to relax and experience 'La Dolce Vita' after playing in world class international tournaments in Switzerland and Italy. Over 140 players and family members visited Lugano, Interlaken, Lecco and Como for a tour of a lifetime staying in 4 star hotels, eating in first class restaurants, checking out the Duomos, Castles, Ski Slopes, and Boat rides while playing against Russian, Czech, Swiss and Italian teams along the way. Quoting Shattuck's Team Coordinator Larry Horstman: "This was by far the greatest trip we have taken to Europe, the level of hockey was outstanding, the accommodations, transportation, cuisine and venues exceptional, and of course, the value of the cultural experience to both our kids and families priceless!" Shattuck (the Harvard of the Midwest) is a training ground for intelligent and talented players who will most likely obtain a scholarship to play college hockey and may eventually play professionally. The trip was organised by Eurosport Tours, who specialise in organising hockey trips and events in Switzerland and northern Italy. The visit must have been a success, for as Bradley Doshan (Eurosports President) warns: 'Watch out, there is another group coming in March'.

Questo natale, tre squadre americane di hockey di "St Marys of Minnesota" sono approdate sulle rive del Lago di Como. Larry Horstman, coordinatore della squadra Shattuck, ha comentato: "Questo è stato senz' altro il più bel viaggio che abbiamo mai fatto in Europa; il livello di hockey era altissimo, gli hotel, i trasporti, la cucina e le location erano eccezionali; e poi l' importanza di questa esperienza culturale per i nostri bambini e per le nostre famiglie non ha prezzo!"
